Inter-Korean reunification activist Paek Ki-wan dies at 88

After devoting his life to the reunification of the two Koreas, activist Paek Ki-wan died earlier today at the age of 88.
He had been suffering respiratory problems for more than a year.
Born in 1932 in what is now North Korea, Paek was an active participant of various social movements towards democratization and the unification of Korea, including the Movement against the Korea-Japan Treaty of 1964.
A writer of novels, essays and poems, he wrote the lyrics for "March of the Beloved," a well-known anthem of the pro-democracy movement.
